What We Do

Here at Deer Meadow Farmacy we aren’t just farmers. We are passionate environmentalists who specialize in wellness for our entire ecological system.

We have created a biologically active oasis consisting of thousands of plant and animal species above and below the soil. This allows for a healthy, holistic ecosystem that creates flavourful, nutrient dense food.

The food created here is beyond food. It is medicine.

We are a family who is passionate about nature and know that the health of our plants and animals is the only true way to create health for our customers.

We are concerned that our modern, fast-paced culture has created an epidemic of mental and physical illness. With this in mind, we strive to offer an alternative option for those who want to take back their health and their life. Our farm is on its own continuous journey of wellness and healing. We want to welcome you to our farm family to heal in the ways you need. We want to help create a new story for your life and continue you along your journey of healing.

Our Approach

In order to create food that is medicine, we add as much biodiversity to our land as we are able!

Each new species we introduce attracts new birds, insects and animals. Each of these plays an intricate role in increasing soil health, which creates healthier plants to create healthier, tastier food. If you take care of your soil, your soil will take care of you.

Taking care of your soil isn't as easy as planting a few seeds. Healthy soil requires hundreds of different species of fungi, bacteria, nematodes, insects, amphibians, grasses, legumes, herbs, flowers, trees, shrubs, cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, wildlife, etc. Paramount to all of this is maintaining the underground ecosystem with as little disturbance as possible! Living soil is the most precious asset on our farm. It is the basis of the nutrition that creates your health.

Everything we do is with the soils health in mind. We strive to be a zero waste farm, so whatever cannot be utilized by humans or animals goes back to feed the soil in the form of compost. We do not poison our soil life with chemicals or synthetic fertilizers. We utilize no-till methods when seeding new plant species. We have created a self-regenerating, beyond-organic ecosystem that only continues to improve with each new growing season and each new farm family member.
